Earlier this week I had a meeting with a visiting artist to the University of Hertfordshire at Hatfield House Café. The reason for this meeting was to gain some insight into how best to write my final evaluation for the Final Major Project. We looked at the work that I would be handing in for assessment and also looked at what should be included into my artist statement that would be displayed along with my work.
I found the meeting to be very useful and insightful and he pointed me in the direction of another artist / photographer named Robert Smithson who was an American artist famous for his use of photography in relation to sculpture and land art. My stereographic projections reminded him of the work entitled ‘Spiral Jetty’.
Smithson’s work is interesting and distinctive and shows a unique way that you can create art from the landscape that surrounds you.
